Energetic, compassionate, and knowledgeable, Zachary Smith is a young music educator in the Northern Illinois region. Mr. Smith is passionate about the concert and marching arts alike and is able to play for, clinic with, and work alongside a large variety of groups and students.
Mr. Smith is a graduate of Northern Illinois University with a B.M. in Music Education. Mr. Smith studied under Dr. Mark Ponzo, Dr. Thomas Bough, Dr. Ronnie Wooten, and Dr. Mary Lynn Doherty. Mr. Smith is in his third year at Emmons School after spending one year as the Director of Choral Studies and Music at Carbondale Elementary School. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Mr. Smith also works with two-time defending WGI Independent Open Champion Chromium Winds during the winter teaching brass and visual. In 2012 Mr. Smith performed and toured with the 7-time DCI-world-champion Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps based out of Rosemont Illinois. In addition to his everyday responsibilities, Mr. Smith has taught marching bands throughout the states of Illinois and Missouri since 2010, most recently teaching the Lakes Community High School, Buffalo Grove High School, Antioch Community High School, Rochelle Township High School, Carterville High School, and Wentzville-Holt High School (MO) bands. Mr. Smith is also available for drill writing after having written for both Lakes Community High School and Buffalo Grove High School. Current clients are Lakes Community, Buffalo Grove, and Antioch Community High Schools. Currently based out of Grayslake, Illinois, Mr. Smith is available for private brass instruction. In addition to private lessons, Mr. Smith is also available to teach Marching Band, Leadership Camps, and various team building exercises. |
